Steps to Cleaning Condenser Coils Unit Properly
- Turn off the Power Supply to the Condensing Unit
- Remove the top fan screen cover
- Wash the coil from top to bottom around the perimeter of the condensing unit
- Do Not Use high pressure; this will Damage the Condenser Coil
- Wash the Condenser Coil until all debris is cleared from the Condenser Coil
- Replace the Top Fan Screen Cover
- Turn Power Back on to the Condenser
Following these steps every few months will help keep your condenser coil free of debris, and your unit should run cool air all the time! You do not want to wash your unit from the outside because this will push all the debris into the center of your condenser, which causes compaction and the condenser coil may plug up and reduce airflow.
Solution to Use
All you need to make a solution for cleaning condenser coils is mild dishwashing detergent, white vinegar, warm distilled water, a couple of spray bottles, and a soft bristle brush. You add a few drops of detergent to your warm water, spray the coils, allow it to sit for a couple of minutes, and then use your brush to scrub away the debris.
You can then fill the second spray bottle with half of the vinegar and half distilled water. Next, you will want to spray the solution onto the coil to disinfect mold and bacteria growth. Once the solution has been set for a few minutes, you will want to spray it off with distilled water.
