Altitude changes the physics. Thinner air at Front Range elevations and well above it in the mountains reduces air-cooled condenser capacity, so a unit rated at sea level does not deliver the same performance in Denver, let alone at a resort-area site. Wide diurnal swings and intense solar gain add to the load.
