Quick answer
For a convenience store design quote, send the site address or building plan, the store type, whether you plan fuel, food service or alcohol, the equipment you already own, and your target opening date. A complete design-build quote should separate the design fee from the equipment package and list what is and is not included. Our published range for a full store design is $15,000 to $75,000+, and a basic floor plan starts around $5,000 to $10,000.
The fastest way to an accurate quote is to tell the designer what you are trying to build. You do not need drawings or an equipment list. You need to know what the store will sell, where it is and when you want it open.
What to send us
| Item | Why it matters |
|---|---|
| Site address or building plan | Size, shape and what is already there |
| New build or existing store | Sets whether we design from scratch or around the building |
| Store type | Convenience, liquor, grocery, travel center, or a mix |
| Fuel, food service, alcohol | Each changes the plan, equipment and permits |
| Equipment you already own | So we design around it |
| Photos of an existing store | Saves a round of questions |
| Brand standards | Fuel brand or franchise requirements, if any |
| Target opening date | Sets the design and delivery schedule |
| Rough budget | Helps us scope the package to fit |

What a complete design-build quote should cover
A quote you can compare has two parts:
The design package. The drawings and documents you will receive. On a JayComp project that is the same eight steps every time: floor plan, equipment package, framing layout, electrical layout, walk-in coolers and freezers with refrigeration calculations and power requirements, cabinets and shelving, color and graphics, and the store delivery package.
The equipment package. Every piece of equipment with model, quantity and price, plus delivery and installation.
It should also say plainly what is not included. On our projects that usually means site work, fuel systems, general construction and permit fees, which belong with your general contractor and other trades.
How to compare two quotes
- Match the drawings. Does each quote include electrical and refrigeration layouts, or only a floor plan?
- Match the equipment list. Same items, same quantities, comparable models.
- Check delivery and installation. Included, separate, or left out?
- Check refrigeration. Is the walk-in system designed and installed, or just the box?
- Check exclusions. A lower total with more exclusions is not cheaper.
- Ask who is responsible if equipment does not fit the plan.
What it costs
Our published range for a full convenience store design is $15,000 to $75,000+, depending on store size, complexity and whether equipment is included. A basic floor plan starts around $5,000 to $10,000. Equipment is priced from the equipment schedule. For the equipment side, see our equipment cost guide.
What happens after you send it
We review what you sent and ask about anything we need to scope the work. Then we send a quote that separates design from equipment and lists what is included. Quotes are free and carry no obligation.

- Package vs. buying onlineOnline prices are real, but they price the box, not the store. Here is what a lower sticker price leaves out, and when buying online is the right call.
- First-time store ownersYour first store is the one where a design mistake costs the most. We walk new owners through the plan, the equipment and the install as one project, so nothing is ordered before it fits.
- Remodel vs. new buildThe building you have is either an asset or a constraint. These are the questions that decide which, before you spend on either route.
